Everyone knows that working out and eating right makes your body look and feel better, right?  Well, what if you do workout and you do eat right but, still do not feel better?  On the inside, that is?  What if you still feel inadequate?  What if you still feel like you are not enough?  What if you still feel like nothing you do will be ever good enough?  Whether you suffer from these symptoms from a time to time basis or on a regular basis, chances are, you are among 85% of the population suffering from a weak self-esteem.  If this is you, do not worry because after reading this article you will easily learn proven exercises to effectively strengthen your self-esteem to live a better life in no time.

The great thing about building a stronger body part is that the simple process can be transferred to anything else in life.  Think about it for a moment, if you can build bigger biceps by following a proven formula then you can build a stronger self-esteem.  If you can build a building by following a proven set of blueprints then you can build a stronger self-esteem.  It is easy to do.  But remember, things that are easy to do are just as easy not to do.  Results come from taking action.

First, what is self-esteem and what are the negative side effects of having low self-esteem?  Self-esteem is the confidence in one’s own self-worth or abilities.  It is the confidence you have in yourself and what you are capable of doing or being, and what you will accept from others.

A low self-esteem can lead to:

  • over or under-eating
  • over training
  • abusive relationships
  • self-doubt
  • depression
  • feelings of loneliness
  • under achievement
  • excessive amount of fear
  • feeling unfulfilled

This is just a short list of some of the effects of low self-esteem, I’m sure you can name more.  Now that we know this, what are some of effects of a strong self-esteem?

A strong self-esteem can lead to:

  • happiness
  • meaningful and lasting relationships
  • sense of self-worth and confidence
  • achievement of goals
  • fulfillment in life
  • love
  • acceptance of body
  • fun by yourself or with others

Now that we know what some of the negative effects of a weak self-esteem can have on your life and body, and some of the positive effects of a strong self-esteem on your life and body, the question is, how can you strengthen your self-esteem to achieve the positive effects?  The answer is simple and I will give you three simple exercises that you can begin to implement into your workout routine immediately to achieve your desired results.

Before I give you the three simple and extremely powerful exercises I want you to remember two things.  1. There are two types of people in the world. Type 1 is Simple minded people or average thinkers, if you will, who overcomplicate a process by looking for complex solution.  They believe that a simple answer just cannot be the right answer and waste a lot of time and energy.  Then there are the Type 2.  Type 2 people are achievers or above average thinkers.  They look for the simplest and most efficient way to resolve an issue or solve a problem.

And the second thing I want you to remember is, “complexity is the enemy to execution.”   What I mean by that is do not overthink or over complicate the process.  Most often it is the simple process that is most favorable to achieve a desired result in the shortest amount of time possible.  If you are reading this I know you are the Type 2 person and someone who will achieve the results they desire.  Now, here are the exercises as promised.

Exercise 1. Stop Your Stinking Thinking

Negative thinking is the most devastating self-sabotaging practice people with a weak self-esteem practice on a daily basis.  Negative, stinking thinking such as, “I can’t do this/that”  “They will not like me or what I have to offer”  “They are so much better than I am”  “I wish I looked like that” These are just a few of the lines of dialogue going on inside the head of someone with weak self-esteem.

Instead of practicing stinking thinking begin to practice the 3 R’ Technique I created several years ago that has helped countless people easily regain their confidence and self-esteem.  Realize Reject Replace.  Once you Realize you are having a negative thought pattern, immediately Reject it, then Replace it with the opposite of what you were thinking.

Ex. “I wish my biceps looked like theirs.”  Realize it, Reject it, and Replace it with something like, “My biceps look good and are in the process of looking better!”

Exercise 2. Forgive

Forgiveness is the single most important, powerful, and life changing thing you can do to build a strong self-esteem and truly begin living life.  Holding on to bitterness and unforgiveness only blocks you from receiving the good things life has to offer.  Forgiveness is not for the other person it is for you.  It is a gift you gift yourself.

Ex. Grab a piece of paper, write down who and what needs to be forgiven, forgive what needs to be forgiven, then throw the piece of paper away.  Then enjoy the weight being lifted from your shoulders.

Exercise 3. Do something every day that you enjoy and/or are good at

Do something every day that you enjoy.  It could be taking a peaceful walk, drawing, singing, etc.  It doesn’t matter.  Do something that you enjoy and do something you are good at.  The more you do these things the more you will feel better about doing them.  Then slowly (or quickly depending on your comfort level) begin to step out of your comfort zone and do things you are not so comfortable with and get good at them.
